The case for a man facing a charge in the death of Cindy MacKay last year is now scheduled for a preliminary inquiry in 2022.
Michael MacKay, 39, is charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife Cindy MacKay of the Meota area.
His appearance was waived in North Battleford provincial court Friday.
Michael MacKay was arrested March 18, 2021. He was released after being granted bail April 13 following a hearing April 8 at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford.
The case is now set for a preliminary inquiry from Feb. 22 to March 4, 2022 in North Battleford provincial court. A case management meeting has been scheduled for Nov. 26, 2021.
During the preliminary inquiry the judge will determine if there is sufficient evidence for trial.
Michael MacKay previously elected for trial by judge and jury, should the case proceed to this stage.
Cindy MacKay was transported to hospital in medical distress Feb. 7, 2020. She later died in hospital on Feb. 12, 2020.
The allegation against the accused has not been proven in court.
