Austin Mattes, the voice of the The Battleford North Stars

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Austin Mattes is the new Play by Play Broadcaster for the Battlefords North Stars and a News Reporter for Pattison Media. Austin attended Herzing College in Winnipeg, where he received his degree in Broadcast and Media Communications. His broadcast career got started as a copywriter in Flin Flon, Manitoba for 102.9 CFAR and there, he eventually became the voice of the PBCN Selects of KJHL. After getting his start with the Selects, Austin has had the opportunity to call games and do colour commentating for the Flin Flon Bombers and OCN Blizzard over the past 2 years. He was also the Director of Social Media and Game Day Operations for the Bombers this past season.

Austin is thrilled to be a part of the North Stars team. With a love and passion for all sports, he is excited to bring insightful and compelling sports coverage to North Stars fans with the hope of giving them a deeper connection to the coaches, athletes and teams.
